Program for State Dinner Honoring Prime Minister of Israel

This is the fourth page of an entertainment program for a State Dinner hosted by President Richard M. Nixon in honor of Prime Minister Golda Meir of Israel on March 1, 1973. Following dinner in the State Dining Room, guests transitioned to the East Room for entertainment by pianist Van Cliburn. Cliburn, who grew up in Texas, earned international fame by winning Moscow's first Tchiakovsky Competition in 1958 despite Cold War tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union. He was first invited to the White House by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, and returned to perform for every president from Eisenhower through President Barack Obama. This program is part of a personal collection belonging to former White House Executive Chef Henry Haller. As executive chef from 1966-1987, Haller oversaw the menus for over 250 State Dinners at the White House. To view the complete program, see 1126720.
